CHRISTMAS IN JUPITER ISLAND , FLORIDA USA

Jupiter Island is one of the wealthest towns in the United States. Jupiter Island is home to professional golfers Gary player and Nick Price, and Singers Alan Jackson, and Celine Dion. Much of the island is inaccessible to the tourist with the exceptions of Jupiter lighthouse park, Coral Cove Park, and Blowing rocks park.

I was at my friend ‘s house  during Christmas time.It was an amazing experience.

MADRID SPAIN

Retiro Park, Madrid

P1060843 P1060857 P1110579P1110568

Located ever so close to the Prado Museum, Retiro Park reminded me of Central Park in New York. It is huge both in dimensions and things to see. The area is particularly popular on weekends when the park appears to be taken over by the residents of Madrid.

The park contains many interesting features. There is a large lake in the middle of the park for boating. There is a gorgeous building called the Crystal Palace that was built long ago. There are spots with cool grass and tall trees for relaxing. There are countless areas to walk and jog around in and be sheltered from the warm sun. There are also an extremely large number of book stalls at the edge of the park selling books of all kinds.

Retiro Park just like it was some 200 years ago when it was opened by King Phillip IV is still a place to relax and forget about the pressures of life for a few hours.

La Castellana Avenue, Madrid

P1060564 P1110917

Madrid’s grand boulevard. I have so many memories of walking along it, at just about every section.

“The Paseo de la Castellana”a is a beautiful street with lots of apartment buildings and some stores .

Cibeles Square, Madrid

P1060660 P1060686

One of the most beautiful places in Madrid this square is dominated by the central fountain, created in 1782 and dedicated to goddess Cibeles. Around it Cibeles palace, Bank of Spain, Buenavista palace and Linares palace compose the “living room” of real Madrid supporters, and the main meeting point for tourists.

Plaza Mayor, Madrid

P1100979   P1110533     P1110547

The Plaza Mayor is the central market square for Madrid, located within a rectangular plaza surrounded on all sides by buildings with balconies and windows and shops on the bottom floor.

In the center of the plaza is an equestrian statue of Philip III, who commissioned the building of the plaza. The statue was designed by the Italian sculptor Giovanni de Bologna, but was completed by his student Pietro Tacca in 1616. It used to be situated at the Casa de Campo but was moved to the Plaza Mayor in the mid-1800s.

On one of the buildings near the center of the plaza are some very beautiful paintings featuring allegories. Below these paintings is Madrid’s main tourist office.

Plaza Santa Ana, Madrid

This is one of the great plaza’s of Madrid, located east of the Puerta del Sol. The plaza Santa Ana is where the local’s come to relax and drink and eat.

Real Madrid is the main soccer team in Madrid and the sport is considered a religion!

It’s a huge stadium with seating capacity for about 80000 people.

I attended a great game Real Madrid/FC Barcelona 1/2 final Champion ‘s League.

Royal Palace, Madrid

P1110868    P1110890

Madrid’s original royal palace was at the site of Retiro Park. It was where the monarchy lived when Spain ruled the world. It was where Velazquez painted his masterpieces. Its architecture featured the square corners with the pointed tops that you can still find all over Madrid. It was truly Madrileño! However, that palace tragically burned, taking with it several masterpieces by Velazquez and Rubens, among other artists.

The palace was rebuilt in the Western corner of the city and it was designed by a French architect. This is why it looks like a mini Versailles. And although it’s still gorgeous, it’s more French than Spanish looking.

PARIS FRANCE

Eiffel Tower

P1210403    P1210415

It is almost impossible to visit without seeing the Eiffel Tower. Even if you do not wish to visit the world famous tower you will see the spire from the very center of Paris. The tower is 300 meters high, when it was built at the end of the 19th century.

The Eiffel Tower is a must-see anytime, but there is something magical about visiting the Eiffel Tower at night. Riding up the tower at night to the top, looking out over the streets of Paris, you’ll see why Paris is known as the “City of Light.” At street level, seeing the spotlight on the top of the Tower zoom across the Paris skyline, and the reflection of the Tower in the Seine

Montmartre – Sacré Coeur

CIMG3806 CIMG3813 CIMG3818

Montmartre is one of my favourite place in Paris.

I think that what tourists like here is the striking contrast between the village look of the Butte Montmartre and the very architecturally (Haussmann) organized spaces of the centre.
Presently this “aspect villageois” is amplified by the sightseeing and commercial function of the Place du Tertre. A positive point is the fact that the houses are maintained in a good state what is not the case in ordinary French villages.

Paris department stores are famous for being worlds unto themselves.Galeries Lafayette and Printemps department stores dominate Boulevard Haussmann with real Belle Epoque grandeur, concentrating top designer collections for men and women, gourmet food shopping, home design, jewelry, and even hardware into a labyrinth of consumer delights.

CHAMPS ELYSEES

I love the area at the Champs, not just for shopping but also to get socialised, to walk up and down the Boulevard, find the little secrets of the narrow streets crossing the Champs and mostly as getting tired to grab a chair on a cafe .

The Avenue des Champs-Élysées is one of the most famous streets and one of the most expensive strips of real estate in the world.

Several French monuments are also on the street including the Arc de Triomphe and the Place de la Concorde. The name is French for Elysian Fields the place of the blessed dead in Greek mythology. The Avenue des Champs-Élysées is known as “The most beautiful avenue in the world”, La plus belle avenue du monde in French.

It is rare that a restaurant combines great service, unique entertainment and great food.

I get a mayan coffee at the end.An experience to remember !

But what makes it special is sitting outside in the garden area on white chairs watching the sunset. The gardens Re lovely with plantings and arranged artfully. Three times a week there is a short Mayan dance show which I enjoyed on a Monday evening.

Welcome to the jewel of Canada’s west coast! the city of gardens, the capital of British Columbia, the warmest place in all Canada, full of flowers almost all year round.. all that and much more is Victoria…

This is my favorite place in Canada and believe me, once you walk on its streets, you’ll feel like being in a fairy tale town.
Most of its charm derives from its English air as many people say Victoria is more British than England, and even though I haven’t been in England I think it’s true. In this city you can take great pictures because of the beautiful scenery, even if you are the worst photographer!

The Legislature Buildings of British Columbia are a majestic and stunning structure that partially dominate the Inner Harbour of Victoria. Built of rough stone and richly decorated in an eclectic mixture of Victorian Gothic, Italianate, and 19th-century Romanesque styles, the buildings are an early masterpiece of Francis Rattenbury, who went on to design many signature buildings in Victoria and elsewhere in Canada, primarily BC. These include the Empress Hotel and part of the Banff Springs Hotel.

There are free guided tours of the interior during summer. Take your time to enjoy the exterior and the gardens.
